In 2019 I translated the theatre play Diary of an empty bed. I created the translation of this monologue in close collaboration with the texts author and actor, Mokhallad Rasem, and with the production house of the play, Toneelhuis. The play is performed in Arabic and surtitled in Dutch, English and French. It is a perfect example of the cultural connection I hope to create when translating. Taking care of the surtitles during the live performances, I stayed actively involved even after the translation of the text.
